Several events are facing us as we move into the summer months.  Let me share with you some of these events that I hope and pray will be of real value to our churches.

The newly launched Acts 1:8/Hope initiative is going to be our conventions theme for the next 8 years.  Our Convention wants to partner with our Association to cast a vision that comes from our hearts and not from Dallas.  As we move through this process we must seek God’s will for what he wants to do to reach the lost in the Valley and to set models that can be used all across our state.   It will be a great opportunity and challenge for our Association to work with our BGCT leadership to seek ways that are effect in reaching the lost.   I pray that we can once again be the leaders here in the Valley to set the pace and the standard of reaching out to a lost state.   the lost.

VALLEY REACH” is a term that you will hear a lot of for the next several months as we move toward the state Annual meeting in November of this year.  Our Association will be blessed to have the support of our State Convention as we partner together in several events to make a real impact in reaching the lost in the Valley.  Here are a few of the dates that you need to put on your calendar and be a part of as we can be involved in Valley Reach.

  • August 14 Evangelism and Revival training  –FBC Weslaco
  • Before September 12, Real Encounters Youth Events in Valley Schools (Coordinated by Leighton Flowers, BGCT)

  • Annual Meeting,   Prayer  walk,  (Coordinated by Carolyn Poterfield/Lindsy Cofield, BGCT)
  • Annual Meeting, Church2Church partnerships, this will be an effort for churches to hook-up and share needs with each other.  We are encouraging our churches to have needs prepared to share and be willing to partner with other churches to share in their needs.
  • Nov. 8-10,  Skate board Assemblies,  McAllen Area, (Coordinated by Leighton  Flowers,  BGCT)
  • Nov. 8-10, Christian BMX Bike Assemblies, McAllen Area, (Coordinated by Leighton Flowers, BGCT)

  • Annual Meeting, Texas Baptist Men Feeding unit, (Coordinated by Dick Talley, Texas Bapt. Men)

Most of these events will be supported financially by the BGCT.  It is urgent that each of our churches buy-in to Valley Reach and take advantage of the evangelistic opportunities that are offered.

SIMULTANEOUS REVIVALS are fast approaching.  If you have not scheduled these dates in your church I would challenge you join the rest of the churches in reaching out to the lost.  If we can help you if finding an evangelist, please call the Associational office.

VALLEY FINANCES I want to thank the churches for being faithful in their giving to the Association.  This month we have gone over the budget by about $400 and are under budget for the first five month about $1200.  We have been able to cut expenses and are not spending more than we take in each month.  A number of churches have given in 2010 that did not give in 2009.
